Manchester City wins Champions League final
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court of the United Arab Emirates and owner of Manchester City Football Club, congratulated his charges on winning the Champions League final.
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed said: “We will continue on the road to further success and are determined to become one of the most competitive football clubs in the world. Winning the 2023 UEFA Champions League title is the result of a deliberate strategy developed 15 years ago. It is the foundation for our future success.”
On 9 June 2023, English side Manchester City won the Champions League final for the first time in their history with a 1-0 win over Italy’s Inter. The only goal in the 68th minute was scored by Rodri. Manchester City have also won the Premier League and the FA Cup this season.
For Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s head coach, this was his third Champions League win. He won the first two with Spanish side Barcelona in 2009 and 2011. “It was not our best performance and we know that,” Guardiola said after the match. – And maybe if we are lucky enough to play in a final in the future, we will look better.”
