Dubai to relaunch Dubai Creek Tower project
In April 2024 Dubai will present a new concept of megaproject Dubai Creek Tower – the tallest building in the world and one of the new wonders of the world, said the founder of Dubai-based developer Emaar Properties Mohammed Alabbar.
According to him, the construction of the skyscraper in the Dubai Creek harbour area may start as early as August 2024. It should become a new architectural wonder of the emirate and an undoubted architectural dominant.
It is worth recalling that the construction of Dubai Creek Tower was suspended in 2020. The original plan was to erect a skyscraper 1300 metres high with a panoramic observation deck inspired by the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, overlooking the Ras Al Khor Nature Reserve.
Dubai Creek Tower was designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava. Groundbreaking took place back in 2016, with completion scheduled for 2021.
In August 2022, Emaar Properties announced the acquisition of the Dubai Creek Harbour megaproject from conglomerate Dubai Holding for AED7.5bn (US$2bn). The deal was equally funded with cash and Emaar shares, making Dubai Holding the developer’s second largest shareholder.
Emaar also announced that the Dubai Creek Harbour project has sold AED4.2bn worth of property in 2021 and AED3.6bn in the first half of 2022. It is a mega project that includes residential, retail and commercial properties totalling 100 million square feet (when completed).
Dubai Creek Harbour is a residential and commercial development area located 10 minutes from the centre of Dubai. The project covers an area of 6 square kilometres, which is twice the size of the Downtown Dubai area.
Dubai Creek Harbour features a picturesque waterfront promenade, numerous terraced restaurants and the elegant Vida Creek Harbour Hotel. A number of other facilities are also planned to open here soon.
