Unusual cinema halls in Dubai
Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has compiled a selection of unusual boutique cinemas operating in the emirate. Cinema Akil, an independent cinema, is located in the Alserkal Avenue neighbourhood. Like most properties in the area, the cinema has been converted from an industrial building into a modern urban location.
The 133 vintage seats and colourful soft cushions give the venue a cosy atmosphere. Each week Cinema Akil shows dozens of independent films and organises themed screenings, such as Studio Ghibli Week.
Cinemacity Fountain Views in the Downtown neighbourhood promises guests a VIP experience. On Wednesdays from 7pm to midnight, girls can get 1 cinema ticket, 2 snacks, 3 drinks for 270 AED and enjoy masterpieces of local and foreign cinema in the utmost comfort.
Reel Boutique, a small cinema in the Rove Downtown Hotel with 46 seats, is suitable for a pleasant evening with friends and family. The venue can also be hired for a private event.
The VOX Private Cinema at Kempinski Mall of Emirates has an exceptional ambience, with soft sofas for up to 15 guests, cushions and unlimited popcorn and soft drinks included in the ticket price.
Earlier in Dubai announced the opening of the second independent cinema Cinema Akil, which introduces viewers to world cinema. The corresponding billboard appeared in the 25Hours Dubai One Central hotel, located next to the Dubai International Financial Centre, opposite the Museum of the Future. The opening of Cinema Akil’s second cinema is expected to take place before the end of 2023.
