Chinatown

Chinatown opened in Dubai Mall

The largest shopping and entertainment complex Dubai Mall opened a new section – “Chinatown”, where visitors can learn about the culture and traditions of the Celestial Empire, as well as buy souvenirs and taste exotic delicacies.

It is noted that the new department store offers an unprecedented shopping and cultural experience and takes visitors from the centre of Dubai to the heart of China.

The souvenir market offers an array of Chinese handicrafts, textiles and artefacts, so it will delight tourists who want to take a piece of Chinese heritage back home. The restaurant courtyard is home to many establishments serving traditional dishes such as dumplings and roast duck, as well as pastries and desserts.

Chinatown is located opposite the ice rink and is an extension to the Dubai Mall. The department store is also planned to be a venue for a host of cultural events.

Dubai Mall is the most visited shopping and entertainment centre in the world, annually it receives more than 100 million visitors. It is home to more than 1,200 retail outlets as well as more than 200 international restaurants.

Dubai Mall is a real oasis of fashion. It houses 70 shops of elite global brands, including the first Bloomingdale’s and Galeries Lafayette department stores in the Middle East. The Fashion Avenue section showcases couture fashion from names such as Versace, Burberry and others.

The Gold Souk section offers jewellery and the Level Shoes section offers a wide range of shoes. Dubai Mall is also great for families – here you can visit the famous aquarium and underwater zoo Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, go ice skating on the Dubai Ice Rink, visit the entertainment and educational children’s centre KidZania and finish your day by watching a movie in the multi-screen cinema.

The waterfall fountain (perhaps the most photographed spot in Dubai Mall) and The Village section, where you can stroll under the open sky during the winter months thanks to the sliding roof, deserve special attention. The mall building is directly connected to the five-star Address Dubai Mall hotel, which is extremely convenient for guests looking to do some shopping.

In 2019, the mall has been expanded by almost 15,000 square metres with the opening of an additional building, Dubai Mall Zabeel. It houses many new restaurants and shops, as well as a 3,000-space car park. The buildings are linked by an air-conditioned covered pedestrian bridge.
