Dubai resident hits jackpot in Big Ticket lottery
An Indian-origin Dubai resident Ashish Moholkar has won 15 million dirhams (US$4 million) in the Big Ticket lottery.
Mr Moholkar, who works in Dubai as an account manager for insurance company Takaful Emarat, decided to participate in the lottery after hearing about the “Buy Two Get One Free” promotion.
Interestingly, it was the free ticket that helped the lucky winner hit the jackpot during Sunday’s draw. The lucky Dubai resident shared with Big Ticket: “It was a real shock to win, I didn’t expect such a success.”
Mr Moholkar also said he would discuss the various possibilities with his wife and mother before deciding how to spend the money.
During the latest draw, 10 other winners – from Palestine, Nepal and India – shared top prizes totalling Dh590,000.
For Milou Kurian, for example, this weekend, in honour of the United Arab Emirates’ 52nd National Day, was also a memorable one. She won a brand new Range Rover Velar in the car raffle.
It is worth remembering that the Big Ticket lottery was founded in 1992, and over the years has given incredible prizes to a huge number of people, and made many people millionaires overnight.
The next monthly draw, which will take place on 3 January, will feature a top prize of Dh20 million.
As previously reported, an Egyptian-born Abu Dhabi resident named Erin Attia won a 24-carat gold bar in Big Ticket’s daily electronic draw. Remarkably, this was her first time participating in the lottery.
Ms Attia, an architect and mother of three, bought the ticket on 4 October after seeing an interview with one of the winners of previous draws. “Thank you Big Ticket. My advice to everyone is to try your luck and one day you will win,” said the lucky winner.
