New Year’s Eve programme offers plenty of entertainment in Dubai
Dubai’s New Year’s Eve programme has plenty to offer residents and visitors to the emirate. Colourful fireworks will light up the night sky at eight iconic locations across the city as the emirate says goodbye to 2023 and enters 2024.
Fireworks will be set off at midnight on New Year’s Eve at the following locations; Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, Hatta, Al Seef, Bluewaters, The Beach and Global Village.
Global Village will be the place to see off the old year and welcome the new one not once, but as many as seven times a night. The festivities will begin at 8pm local time on the main stage, which corresponds to midnight in China. The countdown will then go on to Thailand (9pm), Bangladesh (10pm), India (10.30pm), Pakistan (11pm), UAE (12am), and will end at 1am Turkey time. Each stroke of midnight will be marked by its own countdown and fireworks display.
Two shows will feature more than 800 drones. They will hover over New Year’s Eve parties at The Beach, JBR and Bluewaters. The first will start at 8pm and will focus on Dubai’s past, while the second, which will take place at 10pm, will present the city’s future.
In addition, Atlantis, The Palm will host a performance by British music legend Sting, which will be the main attraction of the New Year’s Eve gala. The Grammy Award-winning singer and his 30-piece live band will perform iconic songs such as Desert Rose and Every Breath You Take.
At Dubai Opera, guests will be able to hear hits from American singer Fantastic Negrito and electrifying sets from Dubai Opera Big Band and DJ Slim. Just in time for New Year’s Eve, visitors will be taken to the waterfront to watch the legendary Burj Khalifa fireworks display light up the sky.
Zero Gravity Dubai Beach will host a festival featuring the beats of Rudimental, Sigala and Nathan Dawe.
Rixos The Palm will be headlined by acclaimed English musician John Newman, who will perform hits such as Love Me Again and Call Your Name. And at Marine Garden Burj Al Arab, Gypsy Kings will be heard.
