Dubai shows world’s largest Rubik’s cube

Dubai Knowledge Park, a free zone hub with higher education institutions, vocational academies and training centres, has set a Guinness World Record for the “World’s Largest Rubik’s Cube” to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The incredible installation consists of 21 fibreglass cubes, each nearly a metre high. The sculpture weighs more than 300 kilograms and has total dimensions of 3x3x3 metres.

The cube is a manifestation of Dubai Knowledge Park’s continued commitment to developing creative thinking and analytical skills across generations, the organisation said in a press release on Tuesday.

Each turn of the Rubik’s cube symbolises not just the rotation of coloured squares, but the acquisition of new skills to solve complex problems and bridge knowledge gaps – a reminder that the scientific journey can be truly enjoyable.

Dubai Knowledge Park has been home to more than 700 local, regional and international educational institutions since its opening in 2003, hosting talented students from over 170 countries.

As previously reported, the United Arab Emirates broke 123 world records between 2022 and 2023, 12 of which were included in the Guinness Book of World Records 2024.

Interestingly, several records were recorded during the famous Sheikh Zayed Festival (Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival) to celebrate the New Year 2023.

The first record is for the largest QR code created with the help of drones. More than 3 thousand drones lit up the night sky and created an incredibly spectacular picture.

Two more records were set in Ras Al Khaimah: the first one – for the fact that 671 drones simultaneously took to the sky, it is 150 more than in the previous year, and the second one – for the biggest letters formed by remotely controlled drones.
