Dubai releases new guide to historic district

Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism has released a guide to the historic district, which is still one of the city’s symbols and immerses tourists and residents in the charm of the old streets on the bay.

The ancient Arabian markets for gold, spices, fabrics and perfume are some of the oldest souks in the Emirate. The Perfume Souk perfume market offers an incredible abundance of traditional oriental fragrances.

The most popular item in the market is natural aromatic oud oil, which has long been part of the local culture. At Textile Souk you can choose a bright kaftan or pashmina shawl, while Gold Souk gold market literally dazzles with the bright glitter of jewellery and precious stones.

Gold Souk (gold market) is located next to Dubai Creek, just a few steps away from the abra (water taxi) stations. You can cross the bay on them for as little as 1 dirham.
