Sheikh Hamdan approves Dubai Quality of Life Strategy
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has announced a sweeping new ‘Dubai Quality of Life Strategy to 2033’ that will incredibly transform the emirate. The programme will see Dubai build more than 200 new parks, open women’s beaches, create new wildlife conservation sites and introduce the concept of 20-minute accessibility.
The Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, comprising more than 200 projects, initiatives and supporting plans, will be implemented in three phases from 2024 to 2033. It covers 10 key areas relevant to the well-being of residents: culture and entertainment, natural environment, urban environment, mobility, community and family, economic environment, employment and working conditions, education, safety and health.
The new strategy seeks to promote the unique wellbeing of the community, guided by three main objectives.
The first goal is to promote well-being at the individual level. It involves development plans that prioritise the stability and happiness of every member of society.
The second key objective centres around communities. It aims to improve lives by focusing on emotional wellbeing and building a cohesive community that takes pride in its identity, preserves its cultural heritage and Emirati values, and celebrates its connection to Dubai’s achievements.
The third key objective is to enhance overall well-being at the city level. This objective aims to create a unique urban experience for citizens, residents and visitors to the Emirate that is centred on meeting human needs.
The strategy envisages a city with accessible beaches, extensive open spaces, recreational plazas and parks that promote a healthy environment for residents and visitors alike.
Sheikh Hamdan said: “Today we have approved the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy to 2033 as part of our endeavour to raise our global status in the economy as well as in innovation and well-being. A vibrant and culturally diverse society is key to our development path.”
