UAE biker rides through Gulf countries in just 8 days

A UAE resident, 50-year-old Hassan Abdel Salam Al Zagrowni, travelled alone on a Honda Gold Wing motorbike through the Gulf countries. He travelled to Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait in just 8 days.

The trip was originally planned with a group of fellow bikers, but his adventurous spirit prompted him to embark on the expedition across the Persian Gulf alone, even when his friends couldn’t go.

“The road for a motorcyclist can be very dangerous because of trucks and cars, but I always rely on my skills and experience,” Mr Al Zagrowni told us, “I set off in February, on my birthday. The trip took eight days, two days for each country.”

Along the way, the traveller didn’t forget to learn about the local motorbike culture, attending a bike show in Qatar where he was honoured for his daring adventure. “When they found out I came from the Emirates, they appreciated it,” he recalls.

Mr Al Zagrouni’s love of adventure is not limited to the Gulf countries. He has also travelled the roads of Russia and the US, and ridden the legendary Route 66, which is known as the mother of American roads.

In the Emirates, the biker left no place in the country untouched, travelling from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah, Dibba, Hatta and Fujairah. According to Mr Al Zagrowni, “There are fifty-two biker teams in the UAE and we all know each other. For example, on any day – Union Day, National Day, any holiday – we all get together in one place and go on a trip.”

“Travelling on a motorbike calms me down,” explains the biker, “In a stressful or problematic situation, I get on the bike and forget everything. The motorbike energises me with positive energy and I feel free.”
