Leading international teams to take part in A2RL drone race

The Abu Dhabi Autonomous Drone Racing League (A2RL), scheduled to take place in April 2025, is expected to attract international teams, research institutes and innovators.

The race will be a follow-up to the state-of-the-art racing competition held last April in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Yas Marina Circuit: it attracted eight international teams with unmanned cars and nearly one million spectators.

The event aims to raise awareness of the autonomous racing industry. The UAE plans to organise at least two races a year until the end of 2028. Participants will compete for the grand prize by overcoming obstacles and passing through a series of turnstiles.

The main goal of the race is to maximise the use of innovation in algorithms while minimising the use of sensor technology in challenging conditions. All participants will be given equal time to practice on the race course.

Registration for the race is open at www.a2rl.io until 20 September. Participants will be selected in three stages. Up to 20 teams will be selected to participate in the Grand Final in April 2025.
