Dubai Metro celebrates 15th anniversary

Dubai Metro is celebrating its 15th anniversary with entertainment, souvenirs and unique sweets for residents and visitors to the emirate.

Under the theme ‘15 Years on Track’, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), together with partners, will mark the occasion with a range of entertainment, surprises and initiatives to delight residents and visitors from around the world.

To mark the occasion, Emirates Post will release limited edition postage stamps and Al Jaber Gallery will release souvenirs with a Dubai Metro theme.

On 21 September 2024, Legoland Dubai will organise a celebratory event for the ‘Metro Kids’ – those born on 9 September from 2009 to 2023. Registration is available on the RTA website.

In addition, a limited edition Igloo ice cream in the shape of an underground will go on sale. The 5,000 copies will have a special code on the sticks, by presenting which you can win 1 of 5,000 Nol Terhaal discount cards.

Brand Dubai will organise performances by Emirati and international musicians at metro stations from 21 to 27 September as part of the 4th Dubai Metro Music Festival.

Also, a special edition Nol card with an exclusive design from Lego Middle East and logo will go on sale to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Metro.

The Metro is one of Dubai’s iconic modes of public transport. According to a recent RTA survey, the metro has become the most popular mode of public transport in the emirate. It was used by 37 per cent of all passengers in the first half of 2024, with average daily passenger numbers reaching 1.98 million, up from 1.88 million in the same period in 2023.
