e& gives free mobile phone service to visitors to the country

Tourists travelling to the United Arab Emirates can now get a free eSIM with 10 GB of data from e&.

Introduced by e&, the eSIM can be activated on its own by simply scanning a QR code and seamlessly connect using facial recognition technology.

A statement from the UAE’s largest telecoms service provider said visitors to the country can activate their free SIM card immediately after going through immigration. The connection can be used for one day. This way, travellers will be able to contact their loved ones immediately and access basic services.

The e& initiative will save travellers from standing in queues and will benefit millions of visitors to the country. Last year, Dubai alone welcomed more than 17.15 million international tourists, according to the latest figures released by the Dubai Department of Economic and Tourism (DET). And the UAE capital welcomed 3.8 million overnight day visitors.

‘The introduction of the self-activation feature for our eSIM Free Visitor Line is an important milestone in our journey towards digital transformation. It demonstrates our commitment to innovation and emphasises our dedication to providing exceptional customer convenience. As the UAE continues to be one of the top destinations for travellers around the world, we believe this initiative sets new standards for mobile connectivity. We are proud to lead the way in providing such cutting-edge solutions to our valued visitors,’ said Khaled El Khouli, Director of Consumer at e&.
