Diwali festival promises lots of entertainment

From 25 October to 7 November, Dubai residents and visitors can enjoy a host of entertainment as part of the Festival of Lights, or Diwali, celebrations. During this period, residents and tourists will be treated to fireworks and a variety of cultural events, including music shows and theatre performances.

Traditional fireworks will light up the skies over popular family holiday destinations, with the first fireworks displays on 25-26 October at 21:00 at Al Seef and 1-2 November at 21:00 at Global Village.

From 28 October to 3 November, residents and tourists can enjoy a week-long Diwali celebration at Global Village. The period will feature colourful rangolis, vibrant performances and stunning fireworks displays. Visitors will also be able to shop at the Festival of Lights Market at the India Pavilion, and experience Indian cuisine, from traditional street food at Chaat Bazaar to fine dining at restaurants.

From 25-27 October, Al Seef will kick off the Noor Festival of Lights, a free cultural fair organised by TeamWork Arts. This three-day fair will feature fire shows, art performances and interactive activities, as well as Diwali-themed décor. Highlights include puppet processions, theatre performances, poetry recitals, musical performances, mime and design workshops and traditional Indian delicacies.

For music lovers, the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School, will host The Unforgettables concert series dedicated to the legendary Jagjit Singh, featuring his disciple Tauzif Akhtar, until 26 October.

Diwali

Another highlight will be Meera: Echoes of Love, a performance celebrating female strength and love. The production will take place on 26 October at Dubai British School, Jumeirah Park, featuring 70 local artists.

In addition, Etisalat Academy will feature traditional games, folk dancing and food stalls on 26 October, while the thriller play Barff, written and directed by Saurabh Shukla, will be performed at Zabeel Theatre on 8 November.

Shoppers will also be able to enjoy an exclusive Diwali shopping experience on 26 October at the Diwali Fiesta at Pullman Dubai Jumeirah Lakes Towers – Hotel & Residence, where an incredible range of festive clothing, jewellery, accessories, home décor, skincare products, handicrafts and much more awaits.
