New Police Academy to be built in Dubai

A new police academy will be built in Dubai – the first cadets will be trained at the Al Ruwaya 1 neighbourhood in 2027. The cost of the project is estimated at 1 billion dirhams (US$ 272 million).

The academy will be able to train 2,500 cadets at a time. As previously revealed, it will cover an area of 155 hectares and will include living quarters, educational buildings, sports facilities and a training ground, as well as a 3.5 kilometre cycling and running track.

The complex will also feature a sports zone with an Olympic swimming pool, football pitch and other outdoor areas where future officers will undergo general physical training.

Dubai Police previously gave the go-ahead for the construction of the Middle East’s first floating police station – the project is scheduled to be operational in 2026.

The new police station will be ‘smart’: it will operate around the clock and without human intervention. The station will offer 27 basic services and 33 additional services in six languages.

These will include filing an application to investigate a criminal offence or road accident, contacting the station to recover lost items, and obtaining necessary certificates and permits.

As the station will be located directly at sea, it will primarily serve yacht and boat owners and water sports enthusiasts. The design of the station takes into account the requirements of marine vessels to ensure quick embarkation and disembarkation.
