Dubai residents have a chance to enter Guinness World Records
The Dubai Marathon, which will take place on 12 January 2025, has announced a partnership with Guinness World Records, giving participants a unique opportunity to attempt to set world records in various categories. This collaboration aims to inspire runners and sports enthusiasts to achieve new achievements.
Participants will be able to compete for records such as fastest running time with a dribbling football or basketball, running blindfolded or in a doctor’s costume, school uniform or dinner jacket. There are family record categories, too, including the fastest marathon run by a mother-daughter or father-son duo.
Shaddi Gaad, senior marketing manager, Guinness World Records, said, ‘This partnership with the Dubai Marathon is in line with our mission to inspire communities to take up sport by providing them with an incredible opportunity to enter the Record Book.’ He added that registration for marathon-related record attempts is completely free.
Peter Connerton, event director, emphasised: ‘This is a fun initiative open to all runners who have already registered for the event on 12 January. However, any record-breaking attempts involving fundraising must first obtain written permission from an authorised body in accordance with the UAE’s charitable donation laws.’
Dubai Marathon 2025 is supported by Dubai Sports Council, Adidas, Channel 4 Radio Network, Xiaomi, ITP Media Group, Bisleri Water, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Police and Dubai Municipality.
Registration for the Dubai Marathon, 10km Road Race and 4km Fun Run is available online at dubaimarathon.org. Participating in this event not only gives you the opportunity to test your mettle, but also allows you to become a part of history by setting new records.
