Dubai names best places for picnics

Dubai has published a list of beaches and parks that are best for picnics.

Zabeel Park

It has barbecue and picnic areas, restaurants, boat hire, a jogging track and fitness centre, botanical and horticultural areas, and a cricket pitch that can be booked.

Al Qudra Lake

These man-made lakes in the heart of Dubai’s desert are best visited during the cooler months, when you can camp by the lake, ride the Al Qudra cycle track, snack on food trucks, and watch Dubai’s wildlife in their natural habitat.

Kite Beach

This free beach offers yoga, volleyball, kitesurfing or reading a book from the local library, as well as a picnic with food from food outlets scattered around the area.

Safa Park

Its barbecue areas and playgrounds are some of the best in the city, and grass lawns cover about 80 per cent of the park. Its biggest attraction, however, is the 3.5 kilometre running track that runs along the perimeter of the park.

Al Mamzar Beach Park

The complex includes four beaches, a large manicured lawn, swimming pools, an amphitheatre, basketball, football, volleyball and children’s playgrounds. There are 28 barbecue areas and many small kiosks with drinks, ice cream and other treats.

Creek Park

The park offers green lawns, botanical gardens, children’s playgrounds, train rides, barbecue areas, restaurants and burger stands, a mini golf course, go-kart track, paved promenade and theatre, and a 30-metre-high cable car that stretches 2.3 kilometres along the park and offers views of the Old Dubai skyline.

Mushrif Park

This national park includes a 3.5-hectare forest of Gaf trees, children’s playgrounds, barbecue facilities, restaurants and dining areas. Train and camel rides or horse riding are available here.
