Futuristic Seaglider to Connect Dubai and Abu Dhabi
The United Arab Emirates has unveiled another futuristic transportation option: the Seaglider, a cutting-edge vehicle that will allow passengers to travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in less than 30 minutes. The cost of the journey is expected to be around 165 dirhams, making it a more affordable and faster alternative to helicopter flights or taxi rides.
The Seaglider is a fully electric vehicle that combines the speed of an airplane with the convenience of a boat. It glides along the UAE coastline, offering a seamless and eco-friendly travel experience. Designed to transport both passengers and cargo, the Seaglider operates in three modes. It starts at low speeds from a dock, then lifts off from the water and flies just above the surface at speeds of up to 180 miles per hour, maintaining a height of one wingspan above the water.
This innovative mode of transport is being developed by the American startup Regent Craft. The company conducted a consumer survey, which revealed that interest in seagliders in the UAE is significantly higher than the global average—98% compared to 86%. This is not surprising, given that 85% of the UAE’s population lives along the coast, and more than half of them travel between the two largest cities, Abu Dhabi and Dubai, at least once a month.
The Seaglider is not only fast and efficient but also environmentally friendly, producing zero emissions. Its ability to travel over water makes it an ideal solution for the UAE’s coastal geography. Prototypes of the vehicle are currently in the testing phase and could be unveiled within the next two years.
This futuristic transport system promises to revolutionize travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, offering a quick, affordable, and sustainable option for commuters and travelers alike. As the UAE continues to innovate and embrace cutting-edge technology, the Seaglider represents another step forward in the country’s vision for a smarter and more connected future.
