Rain and Cooler Temperatures Expected in the UAE
From now until February 26, the United Arab Emirates is expected to experience cooler weather, particularly along the coast and in the western regions of the country, according to the National Center of Meteorology. Meteorologists predict light to moderate rainfall in some coastal, northern, and eastern areas starting Monday evening and continuing into Tuesday. Additionally, sandstorms and strong winds are expected to reduce road visibility.
In preparation for the adverse weather conditions, the Dubai Municipality has placed its emergency services on high alert to respond swiftly to any rain-related incidents or severe weather emergencies. Authorities have assured the public that they are fully prepared to manage rainwater collection, monitor drainage systems, and address urgent reports linked to the inclement weather. Residents can report emergencies through the municipality’s app, WhatsApp, or the call center hotline at 800900.
The Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) have also issued a series of safety recommendations on social media to help residents stay safe on the roads and protect their health during the challenging weather conditions.
The DHA advised residents to “stay updated on weather forecasts, dress warmly, and remain indoors if possible.” If travel is necessary, drivers are urged to exercise caution, avoid flooded areas, and ensure their vehicles are equipped to handle wet conditions. Additional precautions include maintaining good hygiene, carrying umbrellas, and wearing protective clothing to prevent injuries.
The Dubai Police emphasized the importance of using low-beam headlights during rain, checking brakes after driving through puddles, and ensuring windshield wipers are in good working condition. These measures are critical to reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring road safety during the rainy period.
As the UAE braces for this unusual weather, authorities are working diligently to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and visitors alike.
