Salama: Dubai Residents Can Now Renew Visas in Just Minutes

Dubai has introduced a groundbreaking digital platform that streamlines the process of renewing residency visas for its residents. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA Dubai) has launched the new platform, named Salama, which allows users to extend their visas in a matter of minutes.

The platform leverages artificial intelligence to simplify the process. Once a user logs in, the system automatically recognizes their details, displays the visa status of their dependents, and shows the remaining days until the visa’s expiration. Users can then select the desired renewal period, and the system processes the request instantly.

Previously, visa renewals could take anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the documents provided. However, with Salama, the processing time has been drastically reduced to just one or two minutes, provided all documents are in order. Galeb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, highlighted the efficiency of the new system, emphasizing its ability to save time and simplify procedures for residents.

Currently, the service is available only for renewing residency visas, but there are plans to expand its capabilities in the future. Al Majid also mentioned that the platform will soon be accessible to companies through a smart channel and the GDRFA DXP application, further enhancing its utility.

The launch of Salama reflects Dubai’s commitment to digital transformation and improving government services. The General Director of GDRFA Dubai emphasized that this initiative is not just about developing new services but also about reimagining the customer experience to align with the leadership’s vision of providing more convenient and efficient services. The platform is a testament to Dubai’s efforts to integrate cutting-edge technology into everyday life, ensuring a higher quality of living for its residents.

With Salama, Dubai continues to set a benchmark for innovation, demonstrating how technology can be harnessed to simplify bureaucratic processes and enhance the overall experience for residents and businesses alike.
