Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Welcomes Fourth Child

Dubai’s Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, has announced the birth of his fourth child – a baby girl named Hind bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE shared the joyful news on his social media accounts, expressing gratitude to God for the blessing.

The newborn is the youngest sibling to Sheikh Hamdan’s three other children: his firstborn, Sheikh Mohammed, born in February 2023, and twins Sheikh Rashid and Sheikha, who arrived in May 2021.

The name Hind carries deep cultural and religious significance. Literally translating to “a group of camels” in Arabic, it also symbolizes abundance and prosperity, deriving from the ancient Arabic word Hint, meaning “wealth” or “blessing.” In Islamic tradition, the name holds special reverence as it was borne by Hind bint Utbah, one of the wives of the Prophet Muhammad. The newborn was named in honor of her grandmother, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the mother of Sheikh Hamdan.

Sheikh Hamdan’s choice of names for his children follows a thoughtful pattern, reflecting cultural heritage and faith. Rashid, one of the twins, means “rightly guided” or “one with true faith” and is among the 99 names of Allah. Sheikha, the other twin, signifies “wise woman,” the feminine form of the title “Sheikh.” Mohammed, his eldest son, bears the most revered name in Islam, meaning “praiseworthy” and is the most common name globally.

In his announcement, Sheikh Hamdan wrote in both Arabic and English: “Praise be to Allah for this blessing and mercy. By the will of the Almighty, we have been blessed with a daughter: Hind bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.” He also prayed for his newborn’s well-being, asking God to grant her faith, love for the divine, good health, and a prosperous life.

The birth of Sheikha Hind marks another joyous chapter for Dubai’s royal family, further solidifying Sheikh Hamdan’s legacy as a father and leader. The Crown Prince, popularly known as Fazza among his admirers, frequently shares glimpses of his family life, blending his public duties with cherished personal moments.

As congratulations pour in from across the UAE and beyond, the Al Maktoum family celebrates the arrival of their newest member – a symbol of tradition, faith, and continuity.
