Dubai Ranked Among World’s Top Culinary Destinations
Dubai has claimed the fourth spot in a list of the world’s most popular culinary destinations, according to a new report by travel platform Travelbag. The study, which analyzed social media engagement and dining offerings across 50 global cities, highlights Dubai’s thriving food scene, fueled by Instagram-worthy dishes, extravagant dining experiences, and diverse culinary influences.
With over 2 million Instagram posts and 127,900 TikTok videos tagged to Dubai’s food-related hotspots, the city’s gastronomic appeal has captured global attention. The report notes that Dubai boasts 61 distinct culinary cuisines and more than 100 food-centric activities, ranging from luxury waterfront dinners at venues like Pierchic in Madinat Jumeirah to immersive cooking workshops.
Surprisingly, dining in Dubai also offers relative affordability compared to other top culinary destinations. The average cost for a mid-range dinner for two is 285 AED , lower than cities like Toronto (313AED). However, Dubai’s reputation for opulence shines through in its extravagant offerings, such as gold-leaf-covered steaks at Nusr-Et—made famous by viral “Salt Bae” videos—and iconic desserts from The Cheesecake Factory.
Travelbag’s ranking evaluated cities based on cuisine diversity, average meal costs, and social media buzz. London secured the top position, followed by Toronto, Melbourne, and Sydney, with Dubai rounding out the top five.
“Dubai’s culinary landscape is a blend of accessibility and extravagance, catering to both adventurous foodies and luxury seekers,” the report states. From panoramic fine-dining venues to bustling street food markets, the city continues to solidify its status as a global gastronomy hub.
As Dubai gears up for another record-breaking tourism year, its fusion of Instagrammable experiences and cross-cultural flavors ensures it remains a must-visit destination for travelers craving unforgettable tastes—and TikTok moments.
