First Disney Stores Open in Abu Dhabi and Dubai
The United Arab Emirates welcomed its first-ever Disney Stores last week, with magical launches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai marking a milestone for fans across the region.
Crowds of excited families and Disney enthusiasts gathered at Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi for the grand opening, where guests were greeted by live orchestral performances of classic Disney melodies. Visitors lined up to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, snapping photos with the beloved duo. The store’s vibrant atmosphere extended to interactive displays, including a Cinderella-themed dress-up corner, a whimsical porch featuring Donald Duck and his family, and immersive photo backdrops with 3D sculptures of characters like Winnie the Pooh.
The Dubai Mall location, situated near the iconic Dubai Aquarium, mirrored the enchantment. Both stores boast a wide array of Disney merchandise, from toys and collectibles to apparel inspired by franchises such as Marvel, Toy Story, Frozen, and Lilo & Stitch. Children can dive into racks of costumes to transform into their favorite characters, while collectors browse limited-edition items and themed homeware.
John Haddon, CEO of Alshaya Group, expressed pride in bringing the magic of Disney to the UAE. “These stores are a gift to fans, especially as families prepare to celebrate Eid al-Fitr,” he said. “We’ve created spaces where memories are made, and we look forward to hosting exclusive events in the coming months to deepen the Disney experience for our guests.”

The openings align with Disney’s strategic expansion in the Middle East, tapping into the region’s thriving retail and entertainment sectors. The timing ahead of Eid, a peak period for shopping and family gatherings, positions the stores as hubs for festive celebrations.
Shoppers at both locations praised the stores’ design, which blends nostalgia with modern interactivity. “My kids couldn’t decide what to explore first—the Marvel section or the Frozen castle replica,” said Dubai resident Layla Ahmed. “It’s more than a store; it’s an adventure.”
With the UAE’s reputation as a global tourism hotspot, the Disney Stores are expected to attract international visitors alongside local fans. As Alshaya Group hints at upcoming themed events and product launches, the initiative underscores Disney’s commitment to fostering joy and imagination in new markets.
For now, the stores stand as glittering testaments to storytelling and innovation, inviting guests to step into a world where fairy tales and superhero adventures coexist—a fitting addition to the UAE’s landscape of wonders.
