UAE Celebrates Eid al-Fitr with Generous Prize Giveaways
During this year’s Eid al-Fitr festivities, the United Arab Emirates turned the spotlight on its workforce, organizing grand celebrations that included lavish prize draws for thousands of laborers as a tribute to their role in the nation’s development. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), in collaboration with federal and local authorities, hosted events across ten venues in all seven emirates, blending cultural festivities with heartfelt gratitude for the country’s workers.
The highlight of the celebrations was the raffle of a Nissan Sunny sedan, awarded to 24-year-old painter Rubel Ahmed Samsad Ali, a Bangladeshi expatriate working in the UAE. Overwhelmed by his win, Rubel shared plans to sell the car to fund a new home for his family and support his mother in Bangladesh. “I never imagined such luck,” he said, emphasizing his commitment to continue working in the UAE despite his windfall.
In addition to cars, prizes included e-scooters, smartphones, and airline tickets, distributed through competitions and draws held at venues in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and other emirates. The two-day festivities, running from noon to 6 PM, featured sports tournaments, cultural activities, and entertainment programs, drawing crowds of workers and their families.
The events underscored the UAE’s recognition of its diverse workforce as pillars of the nation’s progress. Senior MOHRE officials joined workers in Eid prayers and exchanged greetings, reinforcing messages of unity and shared responsibility. “These celebrations honor the dedication of every individual contributing to our sustainable development,” a ministry representative stated. “Their efforts are vital to building a prosperous future for all.”
Beyond the joy of prizes, the initiative highlighted the UAE’s broader commitment to social welfare and inclusivity. By integrating workers into national celebrations, the government aimed to strengthen community ties and acknowledge the sacrifices of its expatriate-majority labor force.
