The 2025 Dubai World Cup, held on the first Saturday of April at Meydan Racecourse, saw Qatari-owned Hit Show emerge victorious in the prestigious 12 million race. The four−year−old colt, trained by Brad Cox and ridden by jockey Florent Geroux, delivered a commanding performance to claim the top prize of 6.96 million in the Emirates Airline-sponsored feature race.
Hit Show completed the 2,000-meter dirt course in 2 minutes 3.50 seconds, finishing 0.64 lengths ahead of his nearest rival. The victory marked another major success for owner Wathnan Racing and added to trainer Brad Cox’s growing reputation in international racing.
American contender Mixto, ridden by Frankie Dettori and trained by Doug O’Neill, took second place with a 2.4 million prize. Japanese hope Forever Young, under jockey Ryusei Sakai and trainer YoshitoYahagi, finished third to earn 1.2 million, while Saudi Arabia’s Walk of Stars claimed fourth position.
The Dubai World Cup night featured several other high-profile races, with Raging Torrent winning the Dubai Golden Shaheen, Laurel River taking the Dubai Sheema Classic, and Ertijaal victorious in the Dubai Turf. The event once again brought together the world’s top horses, jockeys and trainers from the United States, Europe, Japan and the Middle East, reinforcing its status as one of global racing’s most important occasions.
Hit Show’s connections are now considering future international targets for their rising star, with possible appearances in major races later in the season.
