Dubai Sets 2027 Launch Date for Flying Cars

The skies of Dubai will welcome a revolutionary mode of transportation as early as 2027, with Dutch company PAL-V receiving final approval to launch commercial flying cars in the United Arab Emirates. The PAL-V Liberty, a two-seater gyroplane-car hybrid priced at $799,000, is set to begin production in 2026, with demonstration and verification flights expected to take place in Dubai the same year.

The PAL-V Liberty is designed for both road and air travel, functioning as a gyroplane when airborne. It requires just a 200-by-30-meter space for takeoff and a mere 30 meters for landing, making it highly adaptable to urban environments. One of its key safety features is the ability to perform an emergency landing even if both engines fail, ensuring passenger security.

Operating the flying car will require both a driver’s license and a private pilot’s license. To prepare future users, PAL-V has already established a training school in the Netherlands and plans to open additional centers in Italy and the UAE. The training program consists of intensive six-day modules spread over five weeks, designed to equip pilots with the necessary skills efficiently.

Dubai’s embrace of this cutting-edge technology aligns with its vision of becoming a global leader in smart mobility. Once operational, the flying cars are expected to reduce traffic congestion and offer a faster alternative for urban commuting. PAL-V has already showcased its vehicles in Saudi Arabia and aims to expand across the Middle East following its UAE debut.
