Dubai Resident Loses Weight, Wins Big in Transformation Challenge

The Ras Al Khaimah Weight Loss Challenge 2025 in the UAE has concluded, marking its most successful year yet with 24,289 participants from across the emirates. The top prize went to 31-year-old Dubai resident Amrith Raj, who lost an impressive 45.7 kg and took home 13,800 dirhams. Meanwhile, Dubai expat and Pakistani national Spina Ghatai Mohammed Yaqoub won the women’s category after shedding 25 kg.

Originally from India, Raj revealed that his weight was over 225 kg at the start of the year and managed to lose the staggering amount in just a few months. He credited his wife for her unwavering support throughout his journey. “I’ve always been overweight and don’t remember ever weighing less than 100 kg. My family played a crucial role in this transformation,” he shared.

One of the biggest challenges Raj faced was working in the food industry. “I’m constantly surrounded by restaurants and food. Now, it’s become a real test for me,” he admitted. Despite the temptation, he stayed disciplined, proving that mindset and focus are key to success. “If you have a goal and stay focused, you will achieve it,” he emphasized.

Though proud of his progress, Raj acknowledges he still has work to do. He remains in the obesity range and plans to compete again next year. “I hope to return as a winner—or at least as a strong contender,” he said.

The competition continues to inspire countless people, proving that with determination and support, life-changing transformations are possible. Raj’s story is a powerful reminder that health and perseverance can lead to both personal and financial rewards.
