Dubai Makes History as Two Restaurants Earn Three Michelin Stars
For the first time in the Middle East, two restaurants in Dubai have been awarded the prestigious three-star Michelin rating during the official Michelin Guide ceremony on May 22, 2025. This milestone highlights Dubai’s growing reputation as a global gastronomic destination.
The first, Tresind Studio, has become the world’s first Indian restaurant to receive three Michelin stars. Helmed by chef Himanshu Saini, the restaurant offers avant-garde tasting menus that blend traditional Indian flavors with modern culinary techniques, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients. Located in the St. Regis Gardens on Palm Jumeirah, Tresind Studio is also featured in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. A tasting menu here costs 1,095 AED per person.
The second honoree, FZN, marks the Middle Eastern debut of acclaimed chef Björn Frantzén. The restaurant merges European and Japanese influences, focusing on premium ingredients such as caviar, truffles, and seafood. Situated in Atlantis The Palm, FZN offers a fine-dining experience with a tasting menu priced at around 2,000 AED per person.
The Michelin Guide is one of the most respected culinary rankings globally. One star signifies a “very good restaurant,” two stars denote “excellent cuisine worth a detour,” and three stars represent “exceptional cuisine worth a special journey.” As of May 2025, only 153 restaurants worldwide hold three Michelin stars, predominantly in France, Japan, and Spain. With this achievement, Dubai solidifies its place among the world’s top dining destinations—joining the elite club with not one, but two three-starred establishments.
