Mango Festival Returns to UAE, Celebrating Local Farmers and Summer’s Favorite Fruit
The UAE is set to host its annual mango festival once again, marking the fourth edition of this highly anticipated summer event. Scheduled to take place from June 27 to 29 at the exhibition center in the town of Khorfakkan, the festival celebrates one of the most beloved seasonal fruits while honoring the contributions of local farmers to the agricultural sector of the United Arab Emirates.
Mangoes are considered the quintessential summer fruit in the UAE, drawing significant interest from residents who often visit markets multiple times a day in search of the perfect fruit. The festival not only showcases the finest varieties of locally grown mangoes but also serves as a platform to highlight the agricultural potential of the region. By promoting the produce of local farmers, the event aims to strengthen the connection between consumers and homegrown products while supporting sustainable farming practices.
This year’s festival will feature an array of mango varieties from different regions, each with its unique flavor and price point. Yemeni mangoes are priced at 10 dirhams per kilogram, while the premium Alphonso mangoes range from 35 to 45 dirhams per box. Peruvian mangoes, known for their rich taste, can cost up to 110 dirhams for a 4–5 kg box. A rare Colombian mini-mango variety is available for 90–100 dirhams per box, and Cambodian and Chinese mangoes are among the more affordable options at around 18 dirhams per kilogram.
In addition to the fruit displays, the festival will include workshops for farmers, focusing on sustainable agricultural techniques. These sessions aim to enhance farming practices and ensure long-term productivity in the UAE’s agricultural sector.
