Dubai Summer Surprises Festival Awards Record $5.4 Million in Prizes
The 28th edition of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) festival has concluded, setting a new record by distributing prizes worth over 20 million dirhams (approximately $5.4 million) to residents and visitors. This annual shopping and entertainment extravaganza, which spanned 66 days, solidified Dubai’s reputation as a premier summer destination for tourism, retail, and leisure.
More than 1,200 participants were announced as winners during the festival, receiving a wide array of prizes that included luxury cars, exquisite jewelry, cash certificates, the latest electronics, and even educational scholarships. The sheer scale of the event was underscored by the participation of over 1,000 brands and nearly 4,000 retail outlets across the city, all offering special promotions and discounts.
For the first time, the festival was strategically divided into three distinct phases: the Holiday Season Sale, the Big Summer Sale, and a dedicated Back to School campaign. This structure successfully sustained shopper engagement throughout the entire period. Initiatives like the ‘Shop, Scan & Win’ promotion were particularly successful, generating 150 million dirhams in recorded spending, with the average consumer expenditure more than doubling compared to previous years.
Beyond shopping, the festival offered a rich cultural and entertainment program. A total of 76 concerts and shows featured international superstars, popular Arab artists, and family-friendly theatrical performances. The culinary scene was also a major highlight, with 746 restaurants taking part. A specially introduced ‘Dish for 10 Dirhams’ offer proved to be one of the most popular initiatives, making gourmet experiences accessible to a wide audience. Organizers confirmed that the event successfully reinforced Dubai’s position as a leading global summer hub.
