World’s First Personal Robocar Unveiled at Dubai Autonomous Transport Congress

Dubai’s World Congress for Self-Driving Transport served as the stage for the global debut of the Tensor Robocar, billed as the world’s first personal vehicle designed with Level 4 autonomy from the ground up. The developer announced that sales of the innovative vehicle are expected to commence by the end of 2026.

Unlike modified traditional cars, the Tensor Robocar was conceived and built exclusively as a fully autonomous vehicle. Its advanced sensor suite is a key differentiator, comprising more than 100 individual sensors. This extensive array includes 37 cameras, five lidar units, and 11 radar systems, providing a comprehensive view of the vehicle’s surroundings.

Safety is a central design principle, achieved through the duplication of all critical systems – including power, communication, and control – to ensure operational integrity under various conditions. The vehicle operates on a proprietary artificial intelligence model that utilizes sensor fusion and a Transformer architecture. This AI is structured into two modules: one dedicated to instant reaction times and another for analyzing complex and rare driving scenarios.

Notable features designed for practicality and reliability include an automatic system for cleaning sand and dust from the sensors, autonomous parking and charging capabilities, continuous self-diagnosis, and a robust personal data protection system that employs local storage and hardware-based security.

The project is a collaborative effort, with major industry players like Nvidia, Sony, VinFast, and Oracle contributing to its development. The insurance firm Marsh is involved in creating what is described as the world’s first insurance policy specifically for a fully autonomous vehicle. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
