Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is adding two new DC rides to Yas Island
Abu Dhabi’s entertainment map is getting another boost. Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi is expanding its Metropoliszone with two new DC-themed attractions: Kryptonite Collider, a Lex Luthor-inspired thrill ride opening on July 26, and Superman Up and Away, a new flying roller coaster scheduled for 2028.
The first of the two, Kryptonite Collider, will place visitors inside a fictional Lex Luthor experiment. The ride is designed as a 32-person circular spinning attraction with onboard audio, lighting effects, and digital elements that simulate the feeling of gaining superhuman powers. Guests will enter as “test subjects” in Luthor’s Everyman Project, with the story beginning in the queue and continuing through the ride itself.
The second addition, Superman Up and Away, is being positioned as a more dramatic long-term attraction. It will be a next-generation flying roller coaster where riders travel face-down, creating the sensation of flying alongside Superman. The attraction is expected to open in 2028, adding a major new signature ride to the park’s DC universe.
For Dubai People, the bigger story is about momentum. These new rides are part of Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi’s broader expansion strategy on Yas Island, which also includes the future arrival of the Middle East’s first Harry Potter-themed land. Taken together, the projects show how Yas Island continues to strengthen its position as one of the UAE’s most ambitious entertainment destinations.
Jonathan Brown, chief portfolio officer at Miral, said the new attractions are expected to create “memorable and joyful experiences” while reinforcing Yas Island’s role as a leading entertainment destination and supporting Abu Dhabi’s wider tourism ambitions. Simon Robinson, president of global experiences and studio operations at Warner Bros Discovery, added that the rides will bring another dimension to Metropolis, which already includes a popular Green Lantern simulator and several Batman-themed attractions.
Opened in 2018, Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi remains one of Yas Island’s flagship attractions, with themed zones inspired by DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, and The Flintstones. With the addition of a Superman coaster, a Lex Luthor ride, and future expansion tied to Harry Potter, the park is clearly moving into its next growth chapter.
For visitors, this means one thing: Yas Island is not slowing down. It is continuing to build the kind of large-scale, brand-led entertainment experiences that keep Abu Dhabi firmly in the regional tourism spotlight.
