Dubai International named world’s busiest international airport in July 2026
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has once again taken the top spot among the world’s busiest international airports, leading the global ranking for scheduled international seat capacity in July 2026.
According to data from aviation analytics company OAG, DXB offered 4.35 million international seats during the month, placing Dubai ahead of major global hubs including London Heathrow, Amsterdam Schiphol, Seoul Incheon and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
The latest ranking highlights Dubai’s continued strength as one of the world’s most important aviation centres. International seat capacity at DXB increased by 18% year on year, reflecting strong travel demand and the recovery of traffic across key international routes.
Dubai’s position is particularly significant because DXB operates primarily as an international gateway. Its extensive network connects passengers across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas and Australia, making the airport a major transfer point for long-haul travel.
The result also comes during a challenging period for aviation in the region. Recent geopolitical tensions have disrupted some airline operations and international routes, yet Dubai’s aviation sector has continued to demonstrate resilience. Industry leaders have maintained confidence in the Gulf’s long-term aviation growth despite short-term uncertainty.
DXB’s July performance follows years of strong passenger growth. In 2025, Dubai International handled more than 95 million passengers, maintaining its position as the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic.
Beyond aviation, the airport’s performance is closely connected to Dubai’s wider economy. DXB serves as a gateway for millions of tourists, business travellers and investors every year, supporting the emirate’s hospitality, retail, real estate and events industries.
