The growth in the number of Expo 2020 visitors
As of 28 November, the number of visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai already stands at 4,766,419, helped of course by the music and sporting events and the availability of the November Weekday Pass.
The Jubilee Stage was the scene of a week of entertainment. There were performances by Kuwaiti singer Abdullah Al-Ruwaished and renowned Egyptian singer Mohamed Hamaki, while the final Late Nights show saw the female cast deliver a variety of great performances, ranging from classical music to comedy.
La Scala Theatre Academy performers received a standing ovation at the crowded Dubai Millennium Amphitheatre, and Grammy Award-winning Irish group Riverdance ended their run of performances with a grand finale concert on the Jubilee Stage.
The FIDE World Chess Championship, which began on 24 November, is attracting a lot of interest from players and fans alike. The most important event in the world chess calendar – the reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen from Norway will defend his title against the winner of the Candidates Tournament, the Russian Ian Nepomnyashchy, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The tournament runs until 16 December and offers a prize pool of 2.25 million dollars.
For younger visitors, the Expo offers an extensive entertainment programme with arts and crafts, light shows and live entertainment. A new family meal offer was launched last Saturday, with some Expo restaurants offering a free children’s meal with every adult meal during the week.
Increased visitor numbers are expected with the new Expo Festive Pass, which offers unlimited access to the Winter Wonderland for just AED 95 and is available now until the end of December. Highlights include the UAE Golden Jubilee celebrations, Christmas parties and concerts by big stars such as 15-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys, who will perform at Al Wasl Plaza on 10 December.
As the world’s largest major global event since the onset of the pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai will continue to implement robust COVID-19 measures to ensure the safety and security of all visitors. Visitors aged 18 and over will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test carried out within the last 72 hours. In addition, there are decontamination points and mandatory face masks both inside and outside the Expo 2020 site.

The virtual attendance for Expo 2020 is 23.5 million people now.
Expo 2020 Dubai runs until 31 March 2022 and invites the world to join in a global celebration that will help build a better and brighter future for all.
