Yaseen Jaffer donates AED 10 million for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital
Al Jalil Foundation, a member of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has announced that Yaseen M. Jaffer, CEO of the Proclad Group, has donated AED 10 million to support the UAE’s first Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Charity Hospital, which aims to help cancer patients in need.
The 250-bed hospital, named after the late Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will provide best-in-class outpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, inpatient and surgical services in a supportive environment that prides itself on personalised patient care. The first phase of the hospital is expected to open in 2024 and will have a capacity of 150 beds and be able to treat 30,000 patients a year. The first charity cancer hospital in the UAE aims to redefine cancer care for those in need and become a beacon of hope for cancer patients and their families. Yaseen Jaffer’s wife is a cancer survivor and his donation honours her courageous journey and is dedicated to everyone who has ever been touched by cancer.
Yaseen Jaffer said: “My wife’s battle with cancer inspires me to express my appreciation and immense gratitude for the care and treatment she has received. I am proud to support Al Jalil Foundation in its mission to provide cancer patients with quality treatment in the UAE. This charity hospital will be a symbol of hope for patients who can be treated at home with the support of their families.”
“As cancer survival rates improve, there is a great need to support local cancer programmes and initiatives and strengthen the support network available to cancer patients and their families. I hope to inspire others to support the noble cause of the Foundation and contribute towards the construction of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Charity Cancer Hospital in Dubai,” he concluded.
Since the announcement of the hospital earlier this year, Al Jalila Foundation has already raised AED 350 million, which is in line with the fundraising goal of AED 750 million. Large donations have been received from a number of philanthropists, governmental and non-governmental organisations, businesses and corporations in the UAE to support the development of the hospital.
