DEWA’s Innovation Centre welcomes visitors
Over the past few weeks, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Innovation Centre at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has hosted several high-level delegations led by ministers and officials from several countries looking to learn about the latest technologies in the renewable and sustainable energy sector, as well as explore the centre’s innovations in support of a clean energy future.
Official delegations visiting the centre recently included: HRH Princess Abze Jigma, Special Envoy of the President of Burkina Faso for Resource Mobilisation for the SDGs and Climate Change in Burkina Faso; H.E. Wael Bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister for Electricity and Water Resources, Bahrain; H.E. Mika Linthila, Minister of Economy, Finland; HE Simonas Gentvilas, Minister of Environment of Lithuania; HE Ireneusz Zyska, State Secretary, Government Plenipotentiary for Renewable Energy of Poland; and HE Omar Paganini, Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines of Uruguay. Delegations from Germany, Austria and other countries also visited the centre.
Said Mohammed Al Thayer, Director General of DEWA, welcomed the visits of official delegations to the innovation centre. He highlighted DEWA’s commitment to sharing its expertise with ministries and organisations around the world in the fields of renewable and clean energy, environmental sustainability, innovation, smart cities, water and other areas of mutual interest.
The Innovation Centre offers visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in clean energy technology. The exhibition area on the ground floor is dedicated to the history of DEWA’s development, major historical inventions and innovations in the field of electricity as well as the latest developments in renewable and sustainable energy. There are more than 30 interactive exhibits designed to introduce visitors to developments in the field of renewable energy. There is also a DEWA museum, desalination plants and a visual space explaining the properties of light and solar radiation. The centre also presents an exhibition of the main components of photovoltaic solar cells and related technologies, including concentrated solar power (CSP) and a solar power tower. In addition, DEWA’s renewable energy projects, Smart DEWA, the application of solar cells in spacecraft and satellites, and the development of DEWA’s environmentally friendly buildings are also on display here.
The Innovation Centre at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is open to the public from Saturday to Thursday from 10am to 4pm. Tickets can be booked online at www.mbrsic.ae.
