Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed meets Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE
His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, met today at Emirates Towers in Dubai with Christian Klein, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, the global leader in enterprise application software.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of Dubai’s efforts to strengthen collaboration with leading global technology companies to both expand its world-class infrastructure base in cutting-edge technology and create new comprehensive training programmes to enhance local digital and technology skills.
His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed said: “As directed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, we are creating a dynamic new innovation ecosystem to transform Dubai into a hub of emerging technology. We realise that to achieve this, we need to empower a new generation of talent and entrepreneurs to facilitate the rapid development of the sector. His Highness Sheikh Maktoum and the CEO of SAP discussed the new growth opportunities that Dubai and the UAE offer to global technology companies. They also discussed how Dubai can partner with SAP to create new opportunities for technology talent and entrepreneurs to realise their aspirations and support the region in developing its digital industry.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Thayer, Managing Director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA); H.E. Abdullah Al Basti, Secretary General of the Dubai Executive Council; and H.E. Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department.
Christian Klein, CEO of SAP SE, expressed his deep appreciation to the management and government of Dubai for providing his company with a favourable business environment and increasing its contribution to technological innovation in the region. He said Dubai was an example of a partnership between governments and global technology companies to drive growth and transformation. SAP, one of the world’s largest providers of enterprise application software, has headquartered its Middle East and North Africa operations in Dubai Internet City. As the innovative enterprise software partner for Expo 2020 Dubai, SAP is supporting the delivery of a personalised experience for visitors to the global event. In 2021, the German-based company generated total revenues of €27.84 billion.
