Atlantis Dubai supports environmental initiatives
Dubai’s renowned resort Atlantis Dubai has invested US$ 500,000 in environmental initiatives to celebrate the anniversary of the Atlantis Atlas project. The “green” investments include the implementation of food waste reduction technology by Winnow AI, as well as the construction of a US$ 300,000 water treatment and bottling plant that will eliminate 2.7 million plastic bottles from circulation per year.
Reducing food waste has been the most important objective of the Atlantis Atlas project for the past 12 months. The resort has invested heavily in implementing Winnow artificial intelligence technology, which has reduced the amount of waste sent to landfill by 95%, with 450 tonnes of mixed materials going to recycling.
Following the successful launch of the Atlantis Atlas Project sustainable food initiative in June 2021, the resort has increased the number of locally sourced and organic dishes on the menus of all nine signature restaurants by more than 70%.
As of June 2022, each restaurant offers a minimum of five to six locally sourced organic dishes from its adult and children’s menus. These include Farmer’s Caesar salad at Bread Street Kitchen, burrata at WHITE Beach and fish tacos at The Shore.
Atlantis Dubai Resort (which includes Atlantis, The Palm, Atlantis The Royal and Atlantis Aquaventure) has pledged to phase out all single-use plastic bottles by the end of 2023, for which it has invested US$300,000 in a water purification and bottling plant on its premises.
The Atlantis Atlas project has also supported a number of charitable initiatives, universities and non-profit organisations, including animal welfare and the conservation of the environment and endangered marine species populations.
