Dubai to host first Metaverse Assembly
The first major Metaverse event will take place in Dubai in September 2022, bringing together over 300 industry experts to discuss the potential of new digital spaces. The Metaverse Assembly has been announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.
The event is scheduled to take place on September 28 and 29 and will be held at the Museum of the Future and the Emirates Towers complex. In addition to politicians and professionals, the assembly will bring together more than 40 relevant organisations and over 100 master classes will be held at the venue.
Sheikh Hamdan described the Metaverse as a promising digital world and a technology that will be used to improve the quality of life for people in the UAE and around the world. The Crown Prince noted that Dubai aims to become a world leader in adopting future technologies.

The assembly will present reports, strategies and action plans to further penetrate the Metaverse into the real world, including tourism, logistics, retail, education and healthcare.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum earlier said 40,000 virtual jobs will be created in Dubai over the next five years as part of the new Dubai Metaverse programme.
The number of companies involved in the development of blockchain and metaverse technologies in Dubai will grow five-fold, from one to five thousand, within five years. Sheikh Hamdan described the metaverse as a new revolution that will change all aspects of people’s lives over the next two decades.
Currently, high-tech companies are earning US$ 500 million for Dubai’s economy and these figures are expected to increase significantly in the coming years. The new companies will contribute US$4 billion to Dubai’s GDP.
