Elon Musk to speak at Dubai summit
The World Government Summit is taking place in Dubai from 13-15 February, and traditionally one of the key events of the year will bring together hundreds of ministers, CEOs and experts from around the world.
Over three days, participants in the summit will reflect on how artificial intelligence is changing the labour market, climate change and feeding the world’s population.
Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, will talk to Elon Musk, billionaire owner of Twitter and founder of SpaceX. Elon Musk had already attended the summit in 2017 when he spoke about plans to introduce a universal basic income.
Organisers have not said whether Elon Musk will attend the summit in person this year. Over the years, the event has become a place for sharing experiences, knowledge and ideas. One of the most important issues to be discussed will be the fight against climate change.
Guests at the summit include Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi; UN head António Guterres; International Monetary Fund managing director Kristalina Georgieva; World Health Organisation director general; Meta president Nick Clegg and many others.
Economist Esther Duflo, an expert on poverty alleviation, and chemist Dr Roger Kornberg, renowned for his work on RNAi, will attend the summit. A total of 22 international sub-conferences will bring together 250 ministers and more than 10,000 officials, and over 300 speakers will speak on themes such as sustainable development, health, the economy, technology and developing strategies for governments.
