Expo 2020 Dubai Final Report Submitted
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airport, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai High Committee and Chairman of Expo City Dubai Authority, submitted the Expo 2020 Dubai Final Report to the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE), the governing body of all World Expos.
The report, titled ‘The Expo 2020 Dubai Story’, is a comprehensive account of the UAE’s journey to the Expo and joins the competition dossier and registration document, completing the trilogy of Expo 2020 Dubai publications officially submitted to the BIE.
Sheikh Ahmed was joined by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Court of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai and Vice Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai High Committee, as well as members of the Expo 2020 Dubai High Committee, to present the report to the BIE in Paris. The occasion marks 12 years since Al Shaibani travelled to BIE headquarters to formally present the UAE’s intention to host the World Expo 2020.
The report details the highlights and achievements of Expo 2020 Dubai, including overcoming the challenges of the pandemic, as well as the impact of the event, its legacy and the future of Expo City Dubai. It pays tribute to the countries, international organisations, corporations, academic institutions, civil society organisations, workforce, staff, volunteers, students and children who contributed to the flagship national project and a proud milestone in the UAE’s history.
Sheikh Ahmed said: “Under the guidance and continued support of our wise leadership, Expo 2020 Dubai has become an unprecedented achievement – a World Expo that will remain in our memory for generations to come. This report is a timeless chronicle of all that we have achieved, how we promised to make a difference and how together we have delivered on that promise. We present it to the BIE with great pride in our shared success and as a sign of our commitment to build on its spirit and values in our next chapter – Expo City Dubai.”
The 500-page report, prepared in English, Arabic and French, will be housed in the BIE’s prestigious library in Paris, along with some 5,000 works dating from 1851 to the present day that preserve the experience of past exhibitions for the benefit of future generations. It will be a useful reference book for future hosts of mega-events, in line with Expo City Dubai’s aim to share knowledge and experience in the organisation, management and running of international exhibitions and major events.
