Artificial Intelligence Journalism World Forum to take place in Dubai

The UAE Journalists Association (UAEJA) has announced details of the third edition of the Artificial Intelligence Journalism World Forum (AIJWF), to be held in collaboration with the AI Journalism Research and Forecasting Foundation (AIJRF), Emirates Vision Foundation and the UAE Social Media Pioneers Association on 9 and 10 May 2023.

The forum will bring together academics, journalists, artificial intelligence (AI) enthusiasts, AI solution companies, academic institutions and government bodies.

The announcement was made yesterday during a press conference by the association at its headquarters in Dubai, which was attended by the event’s strategic partners, AI specialists and representatives of media organisations.

Speaking at the press conference, Mohammed Al Hammadi, chairman of the UAE Journalists Association, said the association’s involvement in organising the forum was part of its efforts to support journalism in the UAE and was driven by a desire to ensure that Emirati journalists were exposed to the latest developments in the sector.

The forum will also give UAE journalists an insight into the future of journalism in light of major technological developments, particularly AI and the Metaverse, he added. The UAE has consistently led the way in technological development and was one of the first countries to target the use of artificial intelligence in all fields, he said.

Quoting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on working towards the future, he said, “Our duty is to be first to embrace everything new and cutting-edge. AI is an influential field and therefore Emirati journalism must be at the forefront.”
