Interview with Sasha Ray Dubai based Influencer

How long have you been living in Dubai? Do you enjoy living here?

I have been permanently living in Dubai for 6 years now, I have also stayed here before for 7 months when I was doing my internship as student, so overall about 6 and a half years. To be honest I love and hate Dubai at the same time, I love it because of the amazing weather, great standards of living, there are so many choices of great restaurants and entertainment, as well as a great mix of cultures and many work opportunities. I hate it because like in any big city it is very difficult to make genuine friends and establish relationships with people, even when you do most likely your close friends will return to their home country one day as majority of the people here are staying on temporarily basis. I also miss nature quite a lot so whenever I have a chance, I travel to Europe to enjoy greenery and cooler weather.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a famous influencer?

Well, for me the biggest advantage is an opportunity to meet lots of successful people from totally different industries and work with different amazing brands. The main disadvantage is that unfortunately a lot of people tend to judge you based on your social media activity, which I think is wrong as I never share my whole life on the Instagram.

How did you decide to become a singer?

It was actually a long time ago, one of my old university friends was working with one of the famous producers back in the days. The producer was searching for a new project at the time and she offered me to give it a go. It has been my dream for a long time so of course I agreed. I came to his studio and he wrote the first song for me, that’s how it all began.

Will you be giving any concerts in UAE?

No, I don’t have any plans as of yet, I have kept music as my professional hobby for the last few years but  it’s not my main occupation, plus my audience is mostly  in Ukraine and Russia so all my songs are in our native language.

Do you work on any social projects?

I do support different charity projects from time to time, but I didn’t establish any of my own as of yet.

You had a very successful restaurant brand in Dubai before, can you tell us the story behind the project?

Yes, owning a restaurant has always been my dream business and I put all my energy and efforts into making it successful, however there is always another side to any story. Unfortunately, I was unlucky with my business partner and had to leave the business. Although I tend to believe that everything happens for a reason, that project was the most stressful time of my life and I am happy that it is now over. I think I should write an article waring people about downsides of entering business partnerships in Dubai, there are too many obstacles.

What inspires you?

I get inspiration from traveling, exploring new places and meeting new people.

What’s your plans for the next 5 years?

I have so many plans and ideas in my head, however I would like to keep them to myself until they start coming to life.
