Dubai Press Club announces the launch of ‘Arab Media Award’
Dubai Press Club presented the Arab Media Award on 28 November 2021 at the directives and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Over the past 20 years, the Arab Journalism Award (AJA) has recognised excellence in print and digital journalism and encouraged creativity. With its new structure, the award aims to keep pace with the rapidly evolving media landscape and increase its influence by rewarding achievements in the three main areas of Arab media: Journalism, Television and Digital Media.
“We are proud of the contribution of the Arab Journalism Award to the development of media in the region over the past 20 years, made possible by the support of the patron of the award, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Award has played a crucial role in nurturing talent and creativity in various fields of journalism and in recognising outstanding personalities and Arab journalists who have made a significant positive impact. Today, we aim to increase the impact of the award by revising it to reflect the rapid changes in the media landscape to recognise a wider range of outstanding creative work across media sectors,” said H.E. Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of Dubai Press Club.
The DPC President and the Secretary General of the Arab Journalism Award praised the members of the AJA Council, which is made up of leading media personalities from the Arab world, for their role in strengthening the prestigious position of the award in the region and beyond. Al Marri said the award has gained its recognition through its ability to maintain credibility, transparency and integrity over the past 20 years.
The Arab Media Awards, which include new categories, will continue to ensure the highest level of professionalism and impartiality in the judging process.
