Artistic Swimming World League 2024 took place in Dubai

The final round of the Artistic Swimming World League 2024, organised by Double D Club in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, took place in Dubai this weekend. The event was held at the Hamdan Sports Complex and attracted 250 athletes from 15 countries representing five continents.

Over the course of the weekend, competitors from New Zealand, Brazil, USA, Singapore, Italy, Algeria, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Spain and the UAE showcased their skills, attracting the attention of artistic (synchronised) swimming fans. Among the guests of honour were five-time Olympic champion Anastasia Davydova and Guinness World Record holder William Walker, who presented awards to the winners.

Athletes from New Zealand and the Republic of Tatarstan were the main protagonists of the competition, demonstrating a high level of skill. The New Zealand team won the Solo Free Juniors category and also won gold in the Duets Free Youth category. Representatives of Tatarstan showed their skills in Acrobatics Juniors and Duet Free Juniors, winning several medals.

The tandem of Theresa Sun and Hope Wang from New Zealand was the best in the Duets Free Youth category with 220.5625 points, while the pair from Tatarstan, Victoria Alekina and Alexandra Gareeva, took second place with 202.9917 points. In the Solo Free Juniors category the gold went to Ruby Goodall with 166.2625 points and Valeria Popova and Amilia Beloglazova came first in Duet Free Juniors with 257.9375 points, leaving their rivals far behind.

The Artistic Swimming World League Championships, organised by Double D Club, has become the largest event in the Gulf region from 2019. It aims to develop and popularise the sport as well as strengthen international relations within the Olympic Movement.
