NOC presidents of the UAE and France meet at Expo 2020

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), had a meeting with Brigitte Henriques, President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee, at Expo 2020 in Dubai.

His Highness was briefed on exhibits promoting the 2024 Summer Olympics to be held in Paris during the meeting, held in the French pavilion at Expo 2020. He also learned about preparations for the event, which returns to Paris after 100 years. The last time Paris hosted the Olympic Games was in 1924.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways of developing bilateral cooperation to support the Olympic movement in both countries and improve the performance of athletes.

Henriques told His Highness of the city’s desire to organise the Olympic Games in line with the principles of sustainable development through a number of initiatives aimed at reducing gas emissions in particular.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed bin Sulayem, Secretary General of the UAE National Olympic Committee; Azza bint Suleiman, Assistant Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee for Administration and Finance; Laurence Fisher, French Ambassador for Sport, and Jean-Pierre Suta, Vice President of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee in charge of International Relations.
