DMCC completes successful trade mission to Ukraine

DMCC, the world’s leading free zone and Dubai government’s facility for trade in goods and businesses, announced the successful completion of its first week-long trade mission to Kiev, Ukraine. With the official support of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ukrainian Business Council of Dubai, senior DMCC representatives spoke directly with representatives of leading Ukrainian companies to highlight Dubai’s economic attractiveness and promote DMCC’s facilitation of business around the world.

The trade mission, which saw the DMCC organise its flagship Made for Trade Live roadshow, was the DMCC’s first official visit to Ukraine and was designed to showcase how Ukrainian companies can expand their operations in the region and gain access to some of the fastest growing markets in the world through the DMCC. So far, around 200 Ukrainian companies are represented at the DMCC.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said, “Facilitating business in the UAE and encouraging trade flows to Dubai is an important part of our mission at DMCC – to showcase the enormous potential that Dubai and DMCC have to offer through roadshows like this. Our business district of over 19,000 members continues to grow rapidly and encouragingly we are seeing increasing interest from new markets.  Ukraine’s strong economic growth is underpinned by a good harvest, which is critical to DMCC’s direction and future development. The Ukrainian technology, IT, cryptocurrency and blockchain scene is one of the most impressive and fastest growing in Europe. Sharing information about our members’ technology portfolio as well as the DMCC’s fast-growing cryptocurrency centre was well received. There is great potential for collaboration in these important sectors and maximising these opportunities will be the focus of our efforts going forward.

During the week, DMCC met with senior representatives from the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce, CEO Club Ukraine, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ukrainian Business Council and the Union of Ukrainian Entrepreneurs (UUC). DMCC also held strategic meetings with representatives of UNIT City Innovation Park, Blockchain Association of Ukraine, Blockchain Hub Kyiv, WTECH Ukraine, AVITAR and Ukraine Export Support Centre. The Place Group and Quadrate 28, both Ukrainian DMCC member companies, were part of the Dubai delegation in Kyiv.

Discussions focused on Dubai’s attractiveness as a platform for international business expansion given its strategic location and global connectivity, as well as the DMCC’s position as a leading trade centre and gateway for global trade flows. The programme also included a discussion on the significant opportunities that Expo 2020 Dubai offers to foreign companies.

Gennady Chizhikov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, added: “We are pleased to support the DMCC in spreading the word about the unprecedented opportunities Dubai offers to Ukrainian companies looking to expand in the region. As one of the most connected and fastest growing economies in the world, we are confident that working with the DMCC will strengthen our trade relations with the UAE and lead to more opportunities for bilateral trade. We look forward to opening the doors to business prosperity and success in both countries.”
