New appointment to the HITEC advisory board

Mohammed Hanif Al Qassim (31), an Emirati hotelier and managing partner of The Manor by JA, has been appointed as one of the youngest members of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP) global advisory board.

Al Qassim, who is also the only Arab member, will serve on the advisory board of the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC®) for three years, starting in 2022.

Mohammed Hanif Al Qassim, managing partner of The Manor Hotel, said: “I believe that we Emiratis in the hospitality sector need to be active players in the global industry as we are influenced by its trends and performance. By serving on HITEC’s advisory board, I hope to share our unique experience in launching and managing an eco-friendly hotel.”

“Our model has proven that it is possible to run a boutique hotel that can be both financially and environmentally sustainable. In addition, it was entirely created by local businesses in an industry usually dominated by international players. Apart from our investment as Emirati owners, we took care to bring local companies into our supply chain, including the contractor, the designer, and the operator, JA Group,” added Al Qassim.

The HITEC event was organised by HFTP to provide a forum for hospitality industry professionals to exchange information and ideas on the latest products and services. The council will prepare international educational programmes that will enhance the skills of hospitality professionals and help them be prepared for a successful future in the hospitality industry. In addition, HITEC board members will be involved in identifying current and most important topics in the hospitality industry. The advisory board is also tasked with focusing on capacity building in the hospitality industry and evaluating relevant programmes for hoteliers and professionals around the world.

HFTP was founded in 1952 as an international non-profit association headquartered in Texas, USA, with offices in the UK, Netherlands and Dubai. The organisation spearheads HITEC as a renowned global event specialising in the most innovative products and services in the hospitality industry worldwide.
