DEWA’s Innovation Centre gives visitors the opportunity to experience autonomous electric buses

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Innovation Centre at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park offers its visitors the opportunity to use smart, innovative autonomous buses. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to educate the public about the latest innovations in sustainability. The bus takes visitors on a tour of the DEWA’s Innovation Centre and the Innovation Track at Solar Park. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the world’s largest single-site solar park using the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.

H.E. Syed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA, said the Innovation Centre supports the clean and renewable energy sector by raising awareness about sustainability and educating people about solar energy, as well as creating interactive shows and educational tours for guests. The centre strengthens and develops the capabilities of the next generation of clean energy technology innovators, with a focus on training and promoting qualified Emiratis.

“Creating an interactive innovation centre equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology for renewable and clean energy helps support innovation and creativity in the field of clean and renewable energy. DEWA aims to educate everyone about renewable and clean energy sources. The innovation centre contributes to this by offering a solar energy and renewable energy museum and exhibition to attract individuals, tourists, university students, schools and companies. It also includes a permanent conference centre for events, business meetings, training courses and meetings on topics related to solar energy as well as renewable energy and other green and sustainable initiatives,” said Eng.
