UAE Pharma Business Group launches its activities

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has announced the establishment of the UAE Pharma Business Group, which aims to provide a framework to promote and support the growth of local pharmaceutical manufacturers in the UAE, the GCC and internationally.

The group is expected to comprise 50 companies that will represent expertise in key sub-sectors of the pharmaceutical industry and support the UAE’s ambitions to become a leading hub for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and medical device industries.

The Business Group will provide an ideal platform for companies operating in the pharmaceutical industry to voice their concerns and share feedback on regulations affecting industry participants, with the support and guidance of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.

The UAE Pharma Business Group was recently established during a meeting between member companies and representatives of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce held at the chamber’s headquarters.

Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, chairman of UAE Pharma Business Group and managing director of Dubai Science Park, said: “The UAE has a great opportunity to become a leading hub for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and medical device industries, given the strong demand emerging not only locally but also regionally for quality medicines and medical care.”

For his part, Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, Senior Business Relations Manager at Dubai Chamber of Commerce, described the establishment of the UAE Pharma Business Group as an important step in bringing together key stakeholders and enhancing the sector’s competitiveness. He stressed the crucial role that business groups play in supporting Dubai’s sustainable growth, as these organisations build on shared expertise and capabilities.

As an intermediary for business groups and councils in Dubai, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce aims to promote trade between Dubai’s business community and strengthen relations between Dubai and the rest of the world.
